January 11, 2017 – John 3:11-12
I assure you, we tell you what we know and have seen, and yet you won’t believe our testimony. But if you don’t believe me when I tell you about earthly things, how can you possibly believe if I tell you about heavenly things? John 3:11-12
Jesus is speaking to Nicodemus, a teacher in Israel who does not believe what Jesus tells him. We often think, well, if we’d been there, we would have believed. But would we? Somehow, when reality hits us in the face, and it is not what we want to hear, we don’t listen. The reality of this life is centered in Heaven. No one really knows what Heaven is, looks like, or hears the sounds of Heaven. That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” I Corinthians 2:9.The minds of men cannot contemplate or devise a way to show us a movie that would begin to duplicate the wonders of God’s Heaven. The first step in approaching such glories is living in the amazing grace and love of God. The lyrics of a Hymn comes to my mind –
The minds of men cannot contemplate or devise a way to show us a movie that would begin to duplicate the wonders of God’s Heaven. The first step in approaching such glories is living in the amazing grace and love of God. The lyrics of a Hymn comes to my mind – Amazing love, how can it be – That You, my King, should die for me? Amazing love, I know it’s true. Such a place Heaven is, because our Father God is there and where God is, there is Jesus. How much does our Father God love us? He sent his Son to earth to be a sacrifice for our sins. We enjoy our comfort on earth – Jesus gave his life in Heaven for us. Can we hear His voice? Will we obey His commands? Will we live for Him?
These next verses show the power of His love. This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. John 15:12-14
No one has ever gone to heaven and returned. But the Son of Man has come down from heaven. John 3:13
