November 16, 2016 – Hebrews 2:9
What we do see is Jesus, who for a little while was given a position “a little lower than the angels”; and because he suffered death for us, he is now “crowned with glory and honor.” Yes, by God’s grace, Jesus tasted death for everyone. Hebrews 2:9What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him? For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor. Psalm 8:4-5. This same scripture is repeated in Hebrews 2:6-7. Why did Jesus come to earth willingly just to die?Jesus came for you and me, we matter to Him, without considering where we live, what color we are or what language we speak. Once a person from another country sat in our church service and afterward asked, “Is that for me, too?” She soon belonged to God. When we belong to God, we are partners with those called to heaven. Meditate on Jesus, learn of Him. He is God’s messenger and High Priest.Even as Moses served faithfully when entrusted with the Children of Israel, Jesus is faithful to God in serving Him. Even as we belong to God and are partners with Him, He appoints us to our service on earth. He gives us gifts to enable us to serve Him. We are made in His Image. We are His, but this belonging on our part doesn’t happen until we choose to serve Him in all love and adoration each moment. Serving is not scheduled or departmentalized. For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man. The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the Lord upholds him with His hand. Psalm 37:23-24And so, dear brothers and sisters who belong to God and are partners with those called to heaven, think carefully about this Jesus whom we declare to be God’s messenger and High Priest. For he was faithful to God, who appointed him, just as Moses served faithfully when he was entrusted with God’s entire house. Hebrews 3:1-2
