In His Hands

    Two
days before Thanksgiving, we were blessed with the birth of our tenth
great-grandson. What a joy. With the blessing of technology came pictures from
our son and his wife. Mordecai Thorvald had his picture taken with
grandparents.  I studied the picture of my “Grandpa” Son in the picture
and centered on his hands holding Mordecai.  Suddenly Psalm 139 came alive
in my heart. Is this the way God held us before we were born?
         O Lord,
You have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when
I rise up; You discern my thoughts from afar.
Psalm139:1-2.

What
a blessed ‘knowing.’ This little baby, so tiny, is chosen to be God’s. He will
be taught to love and trust God.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed
us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as
He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should
be holy and blameless before Him. In love, He predestined us for adoption
to Himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of His
will
.  Ephesians 1:3-5.
         God
has plans for our lives before He created the world in which we live. Listening
for His voice and following His leading will be foremost in our lives.
God’s hands were on us when He formed us.
For you formed my inward parts;
You knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I
praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are Your
works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not
hidden from You, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the
depths of the earth
.
Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every
one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was
none of them.
Psalm 139: 13-16.
Then I read this scripture and
understand the longing that comes over us all for peace, newness, and
assurance. And I understand.  God did not allow birth until He placed a
longing for eternity in our hearts and minds.
              He has made
everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart,
yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the
end.  I perceived that there is nothing better
for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they
live; also, that everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in
all his toil—this is God’s gift to man.
Ecclesiastes
3:10-12
When we long for a change during our
lifetime, we are simply longing for the plans He created for each of His
children before their birth.

Whoever pulls the heart of children away from God is against Him. The warning
given in Matthew 18: 4-6 tells us to what extent God loves little children.
Whoever humbles himself like this child
is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. “Whoever receives one such child
in my name receives me, but whoever causes one of these little
ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great
millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea
.
 Matthew18: 4-6.
Humbling oneself is a treasure to our
Lord. Daniel learned this.  And behold, a hand
touched me and set me trembling on my hands and knees.  And
he said to me, “O Daniel, man greatly loved, understand the
words that I speak to you, and stand upright, for now, I have
been sent to you.” And when he had spoken this word to me, I stood up
trembling.  Then he said to me, “Fear not, Daniel,
for from the first day that you set your heart to understand
and humbled yourself before your God, your words have been
heard, and I have come because of your words.”
Daniel
10:10-12.
Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness.  Delight yourself in the Lord, and He
will give you the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act.  He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday.  Psalm 37:3-6.
Placing our hearts and our wills In
His Hands
daily brings us God’s blessings of Love, Joy, and Peace.
And ultimate gratitude rises in our hearts, the name of our Lord Jesus.
So we have come to know and to
believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides
in love abides in God, and God abides in him. By this is love
perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment because as He is so also, are we in this world.  There
is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do
with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.  We
love because He first loved us.
I John 4:16-19.

Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts!  And see if there be any grievous way in me and lead me in the way everlasting! Psalm
139:23-24.
