June 15, 2016 – Hebrews 1:6-7

And when he brought his supreme Son into the world, God said, “Let all of God’s angels worship him.” Hebrews 1:6

Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.  For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.  And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”  Luke 2:8-14.

So many times God sends his angels with a message to people.  In Genesis alone, God often sent his angels to bring a message to Hagar, handmaid to Sarah, to Lot in Sodom, to Abraham, to Jacob, to Moses, and to the Israelites, bringing them out of Egypt and guiding them in the Wilderness.

Why is it, when the intensity of changing wind or fire rage near us in any form, that our senses are suddenly heightened, watching and listening to a greater degree?  Could it be angels bringing a message from God Himself?  Will angels bring us a message when Jesus comes for His friends who believe in Him and live for Him?  Even as the angels brought the shepherds Word from God?

“However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows.  And since you don’t know when that time will come, be on guard! Stay alert!”  Mark 13:32-33.

Turn you eyes upon Jesus – Look full in His wonderful face – And the things of earth will grow strangely dim – In the light of His glory and grace.  These lyric by Alan Jackson have helped me remember just whose I am.

Regarding the angels, he says, “He sends his angels like the winds, his servants like flames of fire.” Hebrews 1:7
