June 13, 2016 – Hebrews 1:1-2

Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe. Hebrews 1:1-2When someone speaks words that catch our attention, we immediately want to know who the speaker is, where he came from and what his authority is.  In these words from Hebrews, we learn just Who Jesus is and His authority.  How many times did the prophets speak God’s words?  How often were they ignored until the prophets’ message became, Repent, turn to God.Then Jesus came. He is not just a prophet.  He is not just a great teacher.  He is the One and Only Son of God.  He was sent by God Himself.  Our Lord God speaks through Jesus.  The Authority of Jesus comes from God.  God promised Jesus everything as his inheritance.  Through Jesus all the universe was created.Furthermore, Jesus ‘takes after’ his Father, our God.  He radiates God’s Glory and lived on earth. He revealed/lived the very character of God. When Jesus cleansed us from our sins – He returned to sit in a place of honor at the right hand of our majestic God in heaven.  Jesus loves us so much He became the blood sacrifice on the cross for our sins.  He became our loving Savior at that moment.We have power.  The power to choose eternal life when we choose to obey the commands of Jesus and give Him our lives.   Or we can choose death by going our own way, separated forever from His great saving love.  Which will you choose?  It is our every day choice.
