May 30, 2016 – Psalm 29:3-4

The voice of the Lord echoes above the sea. The God of glory thunders. The Lord thunders over the mighty sea. Psalm 29:3The Friday night that I went to a football game, I sat by the band, very near the bass drum.  The vibrations were so strong, they reached inside of me.  My heart felt it.  I never forgot that ‘realness’ of sound.  The sound of God’s voice is often described as thunder.  There is a chart of decibels (vibrations) to compare the sounds and what man can endure. Thunder has 130 decibels, our pain threshold is 140.Parents, trying calm the fears of their children during a thunderstorm, often say the angels are bowling or talking in the sky.  One night in Western Kansas, we were awakened by thunder and rushed to our children’s bedrooms to scoop them up and comfort them.  Each time another of peal of thunder sounded, I involuntarily jumped.  My husband, rightfully, told me that I couldn’t comfort my son, if I jumped each time the thunder echoed in the sky.How is it, that we cannot hear His Voice? Or say God is not, when we have God-created echoes of God’s voice in erupting volcanoes and traveling funnel clouds that create such horrific damage?  When I look at the graphic, I see sound in the thrashing, violent waves.  That is a physical knowing.The spiritual knowing is that God’s voice describes our Jehovah God….He is all powerful and is majestic.  Next time it rains, listen for His voice and praise Him.  Remember, the Rainbow in the skies separate the storm from the sun.  If there is no storm in our lives, there can be no Rainbows without God.The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic.
