July 8, 2020 – Colossians 1:15-18

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him, all things hold together. And He is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything He might be preeminent. Colossians 1:15-18.

Who is Jesus to you? The Apostle Paul gives thanks to God and recalls  a hymn about Jesus. How often we hear a hymn that sings Jesus into our hearts! The lyrics of this Colossians hymn celebrates the reign of Jesus as first the Creator and then the Sustainer of the world.  Jesus is the author of our story of redemption, by his crucifixion and resurrection from the dead.

In order to understand who we are, we must know to Whom we belong. We make our choice for Him by the way we choose to live. The way we love shows our choice, to live or to die.

Dear Father in Heaven, Teach me to love like your Son Jesus. Help me to be a peacemaker and possess a Servant Heart for You. Help me to Hunger and thirst for righteousness. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

For in Him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of His cross. Colossians 1:19-20.
