June 9, 2020 – Hebrews 12:1-2

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1-2.

When you arose this morning, what was your first thought?  Were you ready to run the race Jesus planned for you today?   Did you praise God with joy and enthusiasm to serve Him? Or did you plead for more rest and  wait until you had time to think about the cost?

It is Jesus who endured the cross and the shame. It is Jesus, raised from the dead. who sits beside His Father in Heaven.  It is through Jesus we can run this race, letting go of all sin that will trip us. The crowd of witnesses who chose righteous living and are in the Presence of God cheer us on.

Keeping our eyes on Jesus, we strengthen our resolve to run. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.  Philippians 4:13.

Live in peace with everyone and choose to live holy lives.

Dear Heavenly Father, Make my path straight. Refresh my heart in Christ, as I live each day sharing the Good News and Running the Race set before me. In Jesus’ Name.  Amen

Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather be healed. Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord. See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no “root of bitterness” springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled.  Hebrews 12:13-15.
