May 18, 2020 – I Peter 3:10-11
For whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit; let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it. I Peter 3:10-11.
Peter found these words from King David, when he changed his behavior before Abimelech, so that he went away. Come, O children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord. What man is there who desires life and loves many days, that he may see good? Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit. Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. Psalm 34:11-14.
I sought the Lord, and He answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Psalm 34:4.
God created us with the freedom of choice. When we choose to follow righteousness and goodness, we are choosing life. When we choose evil, we choose death. There is no ‘Door Number Three’.
When the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears and delivers them out of their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in Spirit. Psalm 34:17-18.
It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to your name, O Most High; to declare your steadfast love in the morning, and your faithfulness by night. Psalm 92:1-2
What is the first and great commandment? In Matthew 22:37, Jesus tells us. And He said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment.
For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil. I Peter 3:12.
