May 13, 2020 – May 11:27-28

All things have been delivered unto me of my Father: and no one knoweth the Son, save the Father; neither doth any know the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son willeth to reveal him. Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:27-28.

John the Baptist’s followers did not understand Jesus, or recognize Him as the Messiah. They expected a political ruler.  Jesus seemed more about healing people and insisted on blessing the the poor and the meek. No one really knows Jesus, or God.

One of the most beautiful invitations comes from Jesus. Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  By following Jesus and learning of Him, we find rest for our souls.

Being tired comes from more than physical labor.  There is guilt, shame, hidden lies carried in our hearts causes deep weariness and regret.

The Psalmist wrote – Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.  Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Psalm 51:10-11.

How do we find rest for our souls? “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned.” John 3:16-18a.

He restores my soul. Palm 23:3a

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:29-30.
