April 28, 2020 – Psalm 42:1-2
As a deer pants for flowing streams so pants my soul for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God? Psalm 42:1-2.
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” Matthew 5:6.
Straight from the teachings of Jesus from the Sermon on the Mount. The picture of a thirsty deer refreshing himself with the water God created. God created us with a longing for righteousness and not evil.
Choosing Evil gives us restlessness and chaos while choosing righteousness brings peace and joy. Verse eleven shows the difference. Life is filled with choices. Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Philippians 4:4.
We can become discouraged and tired by the circumstances of life. Yet our hope in God brings us to praise Him for our salvation and loving kindness. Watch for the blessings!
But the righteous shall be glad; they shall exult before God; they shall be jubilant with joy! Sing to God, sing praises to His name; lift up a song to Him who rides through the deserts; His name is the Lord; exult before him! Psalm 68:3-4.
Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise Him, my salvation and my God. Psalm 42:11
