February 4, 2020 – Philippines 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7.
How we long for peace in our lives when fear and anxiety threaten to destroy our joy. That is when our mind ‘what if’s’. There is only one place we will find peace. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. John 14:27.
When we are overwhelmed with cares, this is when sweet faith in our Jesus brings us peace and joy. He guards our hearts and our minds from the heartaches and ‘re-runs’ of terror in our minds. Instead our hearts are filed with the doxology of praise to the One whose power is beyond understanding. Our Lord Jesus who calms the wind and the waves, heals the sick, the blind and the lame. The One who paints colorful sunsets and creates sparkling waterfalls. Our Jesus who loves us so much, he died on the cross, and was raised from the dead. And this same Jesus is coming again!
This same Jesus is able to do far more abundantly than all we ask or think. After Jesus was baptized, the heavens opened, and a voice said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.’
Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21.
