October 17, 2019 – Psalm 123:1-2
To you I lift up my eyes, O You who are enthroned in the heavens Behold, as the eyes of servant look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maidservant to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the Lord our God, till He has mercy upon us. Psalm 123:1-2.
Help me keep my eyes and my heart fixed on You, O Lord. For You alone is where my help and hope come from.
I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways. I will delight in your statutes; I will not forget Your Word. Psalm 119:15-16.
Many years ago, as a child, a man held out a silver dollar to me. He said to hold the silver dollar out an arm’s length and asked what I could see. I told him, I could see him, the sky, the trees, and the houses.
“Now, hold the silver dollar close to your eye and close the other eye.” He asked, “What do you see?” I could only see the dollar. Everything else was blocked out by the shiny silver dollar.
So it is, with our Lord God. When we fix our eyes on Him, we are not able to see the world or those who do not follow the blessings of the Joy of the Lord. Loving the Lord your God with all your soul, mind, and heart is true Love. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. I Corinthians 13:7.
Our help is in the Name of the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. Psalm 124:8.
Have mercy upon us, O Lord, have mercy upon us, for we have had more than enough of contempt. Our soul has had more than enough of the scorn of those who are at ease, of the contempt of the proud. Psalm 123:3-4.
