August 22, 2019 – Colossians 3:12-15

Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.  Colossians 3:12-15.

Every day, we choose how to clothe our bodies. We plan to make sure our clothes match and are pleasing to the eye. We want to present ourselves to the world in the most pleasing way possible.

Yet we often take little heed in how our heart, our inner spirit, is clothed and how our thoughts, our words, and our action match.  God chose us before the foundation of the world to live holy lives and be kind, compassionate, and  patient with each other.

We can forgive others, when we put on love.  I once listened to a Junior High Band play with squeaks and squawks destroying their harmony.  In Christ Jesus our lives will be in harmony with others.  The Peace of Jesus will rule our hearts in one with each other without anger or division.

Whatever we do, in word or deed, everything is done in His Name, giving thanks to God the Father.  We will hunger and thirst for righteous holy living, singing praise to our God.

Let the the Word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.  And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Colossians 3:16-17.
