August 8, 2019 – James 1:5-6
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. James 1: 5-6.
Thankfully, we can ask God for wisdom and understanding when we ask in faith. Wait, after the comma, it adds ‘with no doubting.’
This age of doubt and cynicism demands we verify every bit of information we receive. Eighty years ago, the telephone in our homes was not the enemy. Now it is, when someone calls intruding with lies and innuendos. Add to that, television has become a way of warping our minds to innocence and truth.
Blessed is the man who stands firm! Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.” John 14:6. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. Proverbs 3:5-6. Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Psalm 37:3. By standing firm on the promises of God, and trusting Him only we find peace. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act. Psalm 37:5.
Believing in God, trusting His Way, provides a life of Adventure in Goodness. Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4.
Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and He himself tempts no one. James 1:12-13.
