November 6, 2015 – I Peter 1:8-9
You love him even though you have never seen him. Though you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy. The reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls. 1 Peter 1:8-9How many times do we wake up in a hurry-up mode – rushing to meet the day head on? And that nagging feeling inside that we forgot something comes into our hearts! But everything is going so well, we tell ourselves. Then the verse sings in our hearts, and we remember —This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24 Just like that, we remember why the day is going well. We remember that our breath itself comes from God. Without Him, we could not be alive, and with Him, we are totally Alive! On a sunny day, the sun is brighter. On a rainy day the rain drops falling make a melody of praise. On a snowy day, we are captured by the cleanness of everything around us and the patterns of white etching the branches of every tree. On a an icy day – we see the reflection of His Glory. We stop and give thanks for the day to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, each day we are reminded of the inheritance that we have before us, and we praise Him. The Hope and the Joy of this inheritance brings us to live in expectation, rather than dread for the day, no matter what lies ahead. How did you wake up this morning? Full of assurance and joy? Just as the old hymn sings its message – God will take care of you….in every way, every day. Even so Isaiah wrote this promise of God. “Even to your old age, I am He, And even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; Even I will carry, and will deliver you.” Isaiah 46:4All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see. 1 Peter 1:3-5
