November 4, 2015 – I John 1:5-6

This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth. 1 John 1:5-6Can you imagine living in a world of no shadows? A place where no essence of darkness is visible or invisible, for all is Light.  Darkness provides cover for secrets, evil deeds, anger, chaos.  Darkness is the hiding place of evil, spoken words and the hating that leads to death.  This is a place where untruths to self and others reign supreme.Whereas living in the Light of God is living where there is no pretense, simply truth.  Where the question of, “Who Am I?” is answered.  We belong to God, we are His dear children.  The Holy Spirit lives within us to guide and teach us the ways of God.We are a country of #One.  All the declarations of being the winning team, or cheering for the winning team that we may ascribe to, may be a victory.  But not the victory that will compare to the that of the Holy Spirit when we welcome Him into our hearts and listen to His leading.I John 4:4 tells us who the winners are, where the final victory is!  Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us,and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.  Hebrews 12:1.  We have people of the faith cheering us on!  And when we belong to God, we BELONG!But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world. 1 John 4:4
