May 16, 2919 – Luke 8:23-24

As they sailed across, Jesus settled down for a nap. But soon a fierce storm came down on the lake. The boat was filling with water, and they were in real danger. The disciples went and woke him up, shouting, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and the raging waves. Suddenly the storm stopped and all was calm. Luke 8:23-24.

How often we forget to have faith in the terror of the moment.  We forget our faith in God, and we forget our faith in Jesus.  We forget we are made in the image of God, He loves us completely, no matter what.

It is when we remember to trust God, we find Joy.  “Where is your faith?” Over and over we are reminded, You who love the Lord, hate evil!  He protects the lives of his godly people and rescues them from the power of the wicked.  Psalm 97:10.

Our minds are ‘run over’ by the ‘what-if’s’ of the day.  We forget to let God lead and protect us.  Instead, we complain and blame others, and our misfortune grows bigger in our minds, clouding our vision.  We can’t see the blessings God has for us.

When the disciples saw the power of Jesus over the wind and sea, they asked, Who is this man?  In wonder, when we trust our Lord God, and proclaim, You are the God of great wonders! You demonstrate your awesome power among the nations.  Psalm 77:14.

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them.  Romans 8:28.

Then He asked them, “Where is your faith?” The disciples were terrified and amazed. “Who is this man?” they asked each other. “When he gives a command, even the wind and waves obey him!” Luke 8:25.
