May 15, 2019 – Hebrews 11:5-6
It was by faith that Enoch was taken up to heaven without dying—“he disappeared because God took him.” For before he was taken up, he was known as a person who pleased God. And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to Him must believe that God exists and that He rewards those who sincerely seek him. Hebrews 11:5-6.
What is faith? “Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see. Through their faith, the people in days of old earned a good reputation. By faith, we understand that the whole universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen.” Hebrews 11:1-3.
Love and Hope build Faith in our hearts. It is when we believe and trust God IS our creator and holds all life in His Hands, our Faith grows in Him. Faith in God builds when we encounter difficult times in our lives. Our faith in God and His Son comes as a gift of love. “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9.
Earthly things will pass away, and Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love. I Corinthians 13:13. It was by faith, Abraham obeyed God and left his home. His faith is counted to him as righteousness.
It was by faith that Noah built a large boat to save his family from the flood. He obeyed God, who warned him about things that had never happened before. By his faith, Noah condemned the rest of the world, and he received the righteousness that comes by faith. Hebrews 11:7.
