May 10, 2019 – Psalm 40:3-4

He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the Lord. Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust, who does not turn to the proud, to those who go astray after a lie! Psalm 40:3-4.

Praising God brings delight for all who hear!  Praising the Lord strengthens the faith of others.  It is a reminder of His Greatness.

In Acts 13, these words are proclaimed about David,  ‘I have found in David, the son of Jesse, a man after my heart, who will do all my will.’ David made God his ‘go to person’ in all he did.  Even when David sinned, he repented and confessed his sins to his Father in Heaven.

Who is the first person you think of when you need help? You will turn to the one you trust. It is when we panic, we forget to pray and wait on the Lord.  “…but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”  Isaiah 40:31.

It is then we learn to trust our Lord and our soul sings. The Lord is my strength and my shield; in Him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to Him. Psalm 28:7.

Let the heavens praise your wonders, O Lord, Your faithfulness in the assembly of the holy ones! For who in the skies can be compared to the Lord?  Psalm 89:5-6a.

You have multiplied, O Lord my God, your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us; none can compare with you! I will proclaim and tell of them, yet they are more than can be told. Psalm 40:5.
