March 22, 2019 – Psalm 42:1-2
The Word gave life to everything that was created, and His life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it. Psalm 42:1-2.
This morning, I see the brilliance of the moon as I rise. I listen to the voice of a man, an ocean away, speak of looking into the ‘heavenlies’. Then I think of our Lord God who created the lights in the sky to light our physical way. He loves us and sent Jesus to light our way to be new creatures with forgiven sin. The moon and stars give us the assurance that He will never leave us. No man-made light can compete with the brilliance of the light of our God.
Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” John 8:12. What is this life, but life everlasting, with our Lord God.
The waves and tumult of everyday storms threaten. Through Jesus’ unfailing love, I sing songs of joy through the night. He gives me hope when I think all is lost. Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. James 1:17.
Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20
I hear the tumult of the raging seas as your waves and surging tides sweep over me. But each day the Lord pours His unfailing love upon me and through each night I sing His songs, praying to God who gives me life. Psalm 42:7-8.
