March 4, 2019 – I John 1:1
We proclaim to you the One who existed from the beginning, whom we have heard and seen. We saw Him with our own eyes and touched Him with our own hands. He is the Word of life. I John 1:1.
Proclaim — praising publicly and testify Who Jesus is. How did John know? By using his eyes and touch, and listening to the teaching of Jesus.
Have you ever wondered how you would have reacted to Jesus if you lived then? Would we be cynical and unbelieving as the Pharisees were? We spend money on pills and potions that purport to a longer life. Yet, when we read about Jesus, do we want to hear? Jesus is the Word of life, He is Eternal life. Why?
He was with God the Father. One day when the crowds were being baptized, Jesus himself was baptized. As he was praying, the heavens opened, and the Holy Spirit, in bodily form, descended on Him like a dove. And a voice from heaven said, “You are my dearly loved Son, and You bring me great joy.” Luke 3:21-22.
John 8:19. “Where is your father?” they asked. Jesus answered, “Since you don’t know who I am, you don’t know who my Father is. If you knew me, you would also know my Father.”
Psalm 33:22. Let your unfailing love surround us, Lord, for our hope is in You alone.
This One who is life itself was revealed to us, and we have seen Him. And now we testify and proclaim to you that He is the One who is eternal life. He was with the Father, and then He was revealed to us. We proclaim to you what we ourselves have actually seen and heard so that you may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. I John 1:2-3.
