August 7, 2015 – Isaiah 42:10-11
Sing a new song to the Lord; praise him everywhere on earth—all you who sail on the seas, everything in the sea, and all you people in faraway places! Deserts and cities, villages of Kedar, praise the Lord! People living in Sela, sing for joy! Sing from the top of your mountain. Isaiah 42:10-11What are the lyrics of your new song of praise to the Lord? Are you on the top of the mountain in your life? Do you have joy in your every day journey? No matter where we are on earth or the sea, we carry an inward Joy, if we please the Lord and trust in Him. He brings us Contentment – a close cousin of Joy.Moses brought the children out of Israel through the power and leading of Yahweh. As Moses held his staff up, the sea before them and the Egyptians intent on killing were close behind. The sea parted — and the Israelites walked across dry land, with towering seas held back by God, and walked to the other side. The Egyptians were following close, and sped to the center of the sea just as the waters closed in on the chariots carrying the Egyptian troops that desired to kill the Israelites. As the Israelites saw their enemies vanquished by the hand of God, they sang, I will sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously!Long ago someone told me they thanked God for parking places and green lights. Not quite as dramatic as Moses — but yesterday I praised God for giving me strength to shop for groceries. I thanked God for every green light. I thanked God for the near parking place. This morning I thank Him for the sleep during the past night and the food I eat. I thank God for every sunrise, the rain and rest at night. God is Good – All the time!Praise God for the little things as well as the big things – He loves you! Then Moses and the people of Israel sang this song to the Lord:“I will sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously; he has hurled both horse and rider into the sea. The Lord is my strength and my song; he has given me victory. This is my God, and I will praise him—my father’s God, and I will exalt him! The Lord is a warrior; Yahweh is his name! Exodus 15:1-3
