August 3, 2015 – Psalm 121:3-5

Psalm121-3-5He will not let you stumble; the one who watches over you will not slumber. Indeed, he who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps. The Lord himself watches over you! The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade. Psalm 121:3-5Today as things happened in rapid succession, I remembered these verses.  I could feel the the peace that passes understanding sweep over me and thought about the blessing of shade on a blistering hot summer day.  Turn the physical into spiritual and that blessing calms my soul and brings the understanding of God’s mighty power to comfort and soothe my spirit and brush away the doubts.Trust is born.  There is nothing that the LORD does not know about me.  I am an ‘open book’ to Him.  My thoughts and words are known before I think or utter them.Jesus prayed, Our Father, which art in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name.  Jesus knew the blessing of having a Father in Heaven who knows me and cares for me.When my Dad was on this earth, I knew the feel of his arms around me.  Being comforted and treasured, I understood the joy of a loving Father.  When Dad left, I knew that I was not alone.  Though I can not physically feel God’s arms around, I know the joy and peace I have.  I know that turning to Him – trusting Him to guide and lead me, I will not falter. No matter where I am or where I go, God is with me ‘Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.’  (Psalm 23:4) The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon at night.  The LORD keeps you from all harm and watches over your life.  He Keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever.  Psalm 121:6-8
