July 13, 2015 – I Corinthians 15:58

ICorinthians15-58Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:58“Steady as she goes,” cried the Sea Captain, as the ship found its way through the rocks near shore. On that day I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock. All the nations will gather against it to try to move it, but they will only hurt themselves.  Zechariah 12:3These two word pictures give a picture of ‘steadfast, immovable…” and describe those who follow Jesus all the way without deviating from the course set.  Their faith leads to righteousness and the promises of our Lord Jesus Christ.  How awesome, that the surety of faith In Jesus Christ is a living faith and unchanging.  In this day when the things around us, and we ourselves, wear out, fall apart and the guarantee runs out.  The promises of Jesus Christ are for an eternity. The word, “YES”, or “I DO”, or “I WILL”, say so much.  These words open the doors to our hearts to our Creator, our Life-Giver.  Just as the unchanging, forever God is steadfast, His promises find their “YES” in Jesus.  God’s “YES” gave us Jesus, who anoints us, and places a Seal, a Guarantee of eternity with Him through the Holy Spirit. We begin the “YES” life by saying our Yes to Jesus.  Our hearts are filled with His Glory and we sing with joy the Doxology.  Every time my Mom, known to her grandchildren as Grandma Daisy, was filled with the joy of the Lord, she lifted her voice singing the Doxology.  “Praise God from whom all blessings flow, Praise Him all Creatures here below.  Praise Him above, ye heavenly hosts.  Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost.  Amen”  And we echo down through the generations, “Amen!”For all the promises of God find their YES in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory. And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee. 2 Corinthians 1: 20-22
