May 28, 2015 – Psalm 25:5
Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you. Psalm 25:5Lead on, O King eternal, we lift our battle song…How often I sang those words in a lifetime. Yet, I didn’t understand the import of the lyrics until I read these verses from Psalm 25.Humility pours from these words like a gushing waterfall. We don’t lead, God leads. We can never lead without Him by our side. He leads with truth. I am the one being taught. How could I teach God? It is laughable to even contemplate. Yet, often our actions show just the opposite. Like Adam and Eve, we do not understand that our very salvation is not in our hands, but in God’s mighty hands. We cannot live without hope. We cannot live without love. We cannot live without truth. God is the essence of hope, love and truth. He, who created and holds the world in place, He who creates life, He who forms us in our mothers’ wombs, is our only Hope.God is faithful to all who choose to be led and faithfully follow Him. To be taught by the LORD our God, to keep his covenant and obey Him, is a rich man in this world. The ‘who’ or ‘what’ leads us in this life prepares our way for our final destination. Refusing to acknowledge God or knowing His Word describes a man who is ultimately lost and can not find his way. He has painted himself in a corner with paint that can only be erased through humility and obedience and understanding.Lead on, O King eternal, we lift our battle song…He leads the humble in doing right, teaching them his way. The Lord leads with unfailing love and faithfulness all who keep his covenant and obey his demands. Psalm 25:9-10
