September 11, 2018 – Ephesians 5:1-2

Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma. Ephesians 5:1-2.

So often we see a son or daughter trying to be like their parents in many ways. The way the way the parents talk, walk, and live life.

The relationship of the Father God and Jesus the Son is the same.  The love-sacrifice Jesus made, in giving His Life on the cross for us is described as a sweet aroma to our Father in Heaven.

Even as we pray to Him, God considers our prayers as incense.  A sweet aroma rises to God. Accept my prayer as incense offered to you, and my upraised hands as an evening offering. Psalm 141:2.

Revelation 5:8-And when he took the scroll, the four living beings and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp, and they held gold bowls filled with incense, which are the prayers of God’s people.

Our Father in Heaven created sweet scents on earth to teach us how to please Him.  The aroma that pleases God is not bought or made by man. The description in the following verses teach how to be filled with the Spirit.  Speaking, singing, and giving thanks in the name of Jesus Christ for all things and it begins.

And the Spirit makes it possible to submit humbly to one another out of respect for the Anointed. Verse 21 (The Voice).

Be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of God. Ephesians 5:18b-21.
