May 23, 2015 – Isaiah 9:7
I will listen to what God the Lord says;he promises peace to his people, his faithful servants— but let them not turn to folly. Psalm 85:8 The promise is real – a government will be established through Jesus Christ. You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Isaiah 26:3. The heart’s desire is for peaceful living and this can only be accomplished through God’s power and when we see the great light of peace in our hearts and minds. Lord, you establish peace for us;all that we have accomplished you have done for us. Isaiah 26:12 We cannot accomplish lasting peace with swords and weapons of war that men can build. Lasting peace comes with surrender to our Father which is in Heaven.
With the great light and peace comes joy. This joy is described in Psalm 4:7 –Fill my heart with joy when their grain and new wine abound. Joy comes when we do not hunger or thirst. When there is no famine in the land.
There is such a place —Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Matthew 5:6. What is this righteousness? The first time righteousness is used in the Scripture, is when Abram believed the Lord God, it was counted to him as righteousness. Believing and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is the open door to righteousness and our hope.
When the great light leads us from the darkness, we have a land of righteousness where we never hunger or thirst….But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells. II Peter 3:13
The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. You have enlarged the nation and increased their joy; they rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest, as warriors rejoice when dividing the plunder. Isaiah 9:2-3
