July 20, 2018 – Psalm 42:1-2
As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God. I thirst for God, the living God. When can I go and stand before him? Psalm 42:1-2.
Our need for water is more than a desire, it is a necessity for life itself. A drink of water refreshes and makes life easier. This is an everyday need for existence. We search for an uncontaminated source of water, fresh from the source to sustain our lives.
John 7:38 proclaims this truth when Jesus declared, Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’” When he said “living water,” Jesus spoke of the Spirit, given to everyone who believes in Him.
It is so easy to become heart-weary and discouraged in this contaminated world. Yet, when our Lord pours his unfailing love upon us, and we sing his songs and continually pray to God. Our hope soars and our hearts fill with thanksgiving and joy. For we know our Jesus cares.
Writing these words places a smile on my face and in my heart, and I count His blessings each moment of the day. I will praise Him again and again. He is my Savior and my God!
I will sing to the Lord as long as I live. I will praise my God to my last breath! May all my thoughts be pleasing to him, for I rejoice in the Lord. Psalm 104:33-34
But each day the Lord pours his unfailing love upon me, and through each night I sing his songs, praying to God who gives me life. Their taunts break my bones. They scoff, “Where is this God of yours?” Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again—my Savior and my God! Psalm 42:8, 10-11.
