May 8, 2015 – Luke 18:27

But he said, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.”  Luke 18:27How often I look at something I want to do, and say, “How hard can it be?”  I soon learn, that in my own power, it can be impossible to do!  With God, all things are possible.  When I rely on God, He is the one who gives strength and understanding to accomplish — not my will — but His will.  This is what walking with Jesus, following Jesus, is all about.The story of the blind man being healed is a miracle that Jesus performed.  Have you ever known someone who has lost their sight?  Their world is darkened.  They stumble and fall when objects are in the way.  Noises sound loud and more terrifying.  A blind man feels vulnerable to hurts.  Yet this blind man heard the voice of Jesus and believed.Jesus asks all of us, “What do you want me to do for you?”  We have a million answers.  ‘You have no power – I don’t believe in you.’  ‘I can’t see you, so you do not exist.’ ‘What have you got that I would want?’This blind man wanted his sight back.  He knew, he believed, he had faith that Jesus could give him his sight back.  And the blind man was healed.Suddenly the story does not stop for me.  The spiritual doubt and unbelief blinds us to who Jesus is.  This blindness erodes any faith left.  Doubt is written in our hearts.  Believing in Jesus is a choice that matters.  This choice to believe matters not only now but for an eternity.  It matters, not only for me, but for my children and my children’s children.The clarity of faith shines like a beacon to all those around us for a life time.  And when that lifetime ends, the faith we choose to have in Jesus, brings us to Heaven.  Is it any wonder that we shout and sing, We praise you, Oh, God, we glorify Your Name above all Names!Jesus asks each of us, What do you want me to do for you?  What do we choose?  I choose LIFE!  I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.  John 10:9-10And Jesus stopped and commanded him to be brought to him. And when he came near, he asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” He said, “Lord, let me recover my sight.” And Jesus said to him, “Recover your sight; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he recovered his sight and followed him, glorifying God. And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God. Luke 18:40-43
