July 6, 2018 – Mark 10:42-44

So Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers in this world lord it over their people, and officials flaunt their authority over those under them. But among you, it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must be the slave of everyone else. ” Mark 10:42-44.

Being a servant…is the first step in following the second commandment.  Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. Philippians 2:3-4.

And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.’ The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.” Mark 10:30-31.

What attributes belong to Love? Kindness, Gentleness, Goodness, and Patience!  Holding hands with Love is Joy and Peace.  Do these attributes belong to any social strata in our world? These attributes are Fruit of the Spirit of our loving Lord and belong to each one who Loves our Lord Jesus.  (Galatians 5:2-3)

Kindnesses matter to our Lord.  If anyone gives you even a cup of water because you belong to the Messiah, I tell you the truth, that person will surely be rewarded.  Matthew 9:41.

Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise you! I will praise you as long as I live, lifting my hands to you in prayer. Psalm 63:3-4

“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45
