June 5, 2018 – I Peter 4:9-10

Cheerfully share your home with those who need a meal or a place to stay. God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. I Peter 4:9-10.

Do not complain when sharing your home.  How does that tie in with receiving gifts from God?  We are ready to listen when someone wants to give a gift. Yet using the gifts God gives us, are ours and just ours, right? Why share?

We receive gifts to use for the good of others. Even our home, our hideaway from the world, is to be shared.  All gifts are to be shared to serve one another.  This will show us to be good stewards of God’s grace in all its varieties. How is giving up our privacy connected with Grace?

We have an invitation to share God’s Hospitality, He prepared through the giving of His Son Jesus to be our blood sacrifice.  John 14:2-3 – There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.

The gifts God gives us are to Glorify God through Jesus. The gifts of help or of speaking are to be done with all the strength God gives us. Not to glorify us, but to glorify God through Jesus in whom is all glory and power forever and ever.

Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen. I Peter 4:11.
