May 31, 2018 – Psalm 147:1

Praise the Lord! How good to sing praises to our God! How delightful and how fitting! Psalm 147:1.

What is it about a melody in grief, lostness, celebration, and joy to satisfy the heart? When I read a prayer request with the added suggestion to sing the request to the Lord, I stopped and sang the current prayer in my heart.  Suddenly my mind focused on the joy of the Lord and His goodness.  Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. Psalm 136:1.

Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. I Thessalonians 5:16-17.  Never stop praying, describes a way of life – a walk with our Lord God.  With each step, in each moment, our mind is centered on God. We place our hands in His and walk with Him through each day He gives us. He cares for us, His Power is absolute.

I remembered the many times I have heard The Lord’s Prayer sung. More than melody, more than the words of Christ Jesus healing the soul, this ‘prayer in melody’ gives us hope in this life for eternity.

Our Lord understands all, beyond our comprehension. For God chose to save us through our Lord Jesus Christ, not to pour out his anger on us. Christ died for us so that, whether we are dead or alive when he returns, we can live with him forever.  So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing. I Thessalonians 5:9-11.

He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds. He counts the stars and calls them all by name. How great is our Lord! His power is absolute! His understanding is beyond comprehension! Psalm 147:3-5.
