April 21, 2015 – Psalm 79:13

Psalm79-13But we your people, the sheep of your pasture, will give thanks to you forever; from generation to generation we will recount your praise. Psalm 79:13From generation to generation….What happens if one generation forgets to remember to give thank you to God?  The Children of Israel learned….for the story is written in His Word.  Moses led them out of Egypt, out of bondage, out of slavery.  They were being led through the wilderness.  And as we, as human beings, begin to rail against what is and complain, so did the Children of Israel.  The journey was too difficult and not comfortable.  Often in this life, nothing is to our liking.  Our journey becomes burdensome and we want to bail out.Despite the abundant care God gave them, the Israelites made the decision to worship golden images and idols.  He continued to lead them with a cloud during the day and a fiery light at night, giving them water and manna to eat.  God was faithful then.   He is faithful to us today.  Naming our blessings with a thankful heart each day causes us to remember all that God has done for us.  It is a choice.  Always a choice, to be thankful and worship our Lord.Even today…as we worship Him, we partake of the Living Water (John 7:38 –Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said,Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.), and Bread of Life (John 6:31 –Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.), our manna to sustain us on our journey on earth. It is in Jesus’ name we remember you, Lord God Almighty, and your steadfast faithfulness.  May we remember that you give us the very breath we breathe.Without You, we are nothing.  No hardship or difficulty in this life compares with the indignities and heart-rending pain Jesus suffered on the cross to bring us salvation.  We love You and adore You and find our delight in You.  We give You thanks from deep in our hearts.  We will teach our children and our children’s children to love you.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.In the daytime he led them with a cloud, and all the night with a fiery light. He split rocks in the wilderness and gave them drink abundantly as from the deep. He made streams come out of the rock and caused waters to flow down like rivers.  Psalm 78:14-16
