April 26, 2018 – I John 4:7-8
Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love. I John 4:7-8.
Anger and hate have no place in a child of God. We often act on these feelings and these actions open the door of our hearts to the Evil One. It is only through the love of God can these destructive actions not hold us captive. Instead pray for peace and love in the relationships with those around us.
Unless our vertical relationship with God is at peace, can we find peace in our horizontal relationships with others. Can we measure God’s love for us? How can we His Gift of eternal life that is ours through the blood sacrifice of His One and Only Son upon the cross. There is only One God and One Son that are able to forgive our sins and teach us how to love.
It isn’t how we love God, we can never love enough, or be enough to earn God’s love. “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16. “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid. Remember what I told you: I am going away, but I will come back to you again. If you really loved me, you would be happy that I am going to the Father, who is greater than I am.” John 14:27-28.
God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. I John 4:9-10.
