February 14, 2018 -I John 3:1-2
See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him. Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but He has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like Him, for we will see Him as he really is. I John 3:1-2.
We will never understand the depth of God’s love for us, until we realize what it cost Him to send Jesus to earth. God made a way for us to experience being His child, free from sin.
Jesus taught us love and saved us from our sins by His death on the cross. There is more. Jesus left us the Holy Spirit… to be with us, comfort us, guides us, support us, provide strength and endurance, and to reconcile differences between two people.
An earthly father loves his children, feeds them, holds them close, and teaches them from his storehouse of wisdom. Our Heavenly Father sent Jesus and the Holy Spirit to save us from sin, feed us spiritual food from His Word, love us, and be near us.
Matthew 28:18-20 – Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Jude 19-20 – But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life. In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God’s love.
And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as He is pure. I John 3:3.
