March 29, 2015 – Hebrews 12:1

Hebrews12-1Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Hebrews 12:1Wave the flag of victory!  Run with joy and purpose!  When the sun rises, let us be running with perseverance, on the path that our Lord has given us.  Fly over the potholes of sin, watch for the wires that threaten to impede our progress and capture us with evil and darkness.  Toward the end of the race, weariness loosens our grip and our strength begins to crumble. The witnesses cheer us on our way from up in the God-Stands.  They remind us of the glory of the finish of the race God set before us.  Our hearts are flooded with peace with everyone around us and the joyous work of Jesus as we see the Finish Line appear.  We encourage our fellow runners to continue the race, seeing that those who are weak and lame will not fall.  Let us all rise up in victory as the witnesses cheer us on.The prize is ours and we will receive the grace of God, just a few more steps.  Just a few more moments, just a few more tears and the prize of God’s great glory is ours.  Do you hear the angel chorus shout as the witnesses welcome us Home?

So take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees. Mark out a straight path for your feet so that those who are weak and lame will not fall but become strong. Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord. Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many. Hebrews 12:12-15
