January 10, 2018 – Colossians 1:9
So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Colossians 1:9.
How long do we pray for someone, is there an accepted posture for prayer, how long does it take to pray, what do I say? These verses give some focus. Verse 9 includes the what – complete knowledge of his will and spiritual wisdom, and understanding. As far as the ‘when’ is concerned, this verse tells us from I Thessalonians 5:16-18 – Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. The words Never stop Praying, are nestled between these words – be joyful and be thankful!
The end of the world is coming soon. Therefore, be earnest and disciplined in your prayers. Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins. I Peter 4:7-8.
The Old Faithful Geyser in Yellowstone National Park was named in 1870. This geyser erupts every 35 to 120 minutes for up to 5 minutes. The water height ranges from 90 to 184 feet. The Old Faithful Person of Prayer honors and pleases God with the way he or she lives. A person who prays continually knows God.
We all want to be strong and powerful – with patience and endurance. What better way than to walk with Him and talk with Him faithfully? His glorious power is all we need, and His Power is ours when we accept Jesus, the Son of God, as our personal Savior. Hold on to what is good!
Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better. We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. Colossians 1:10-11.
