November 13, 2017 – Psalm 23:1-2

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters. Psalm 23:1-2.

Do you have ‘the wants’?  Do you know the difference between a want and a need? When life turns into a series of ‘wants’, we know something is missing.  But what is it?

A hymn-writer, Isaacs, wrote these lyrics, I need Jesus, you need Him, too.  Along life’s highways to carry you through. When you’re in trouble, And don’t know what to do, Call on Jesus – He’ll carry you through.

I shall not want? Never feel that urge to want again.  Contentment reigns, because Jesus is enough. Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth.  After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it.  I Timothy 6:6-7.

He leads me by still waters – Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’ John 7:38.  He restores, He leads, He gives us rest.  Yes, Jesus makes me whole!

“But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants.” John 3:21.

Lord, we show our trust in you by obeying your laws; our heart’s desire is to glorify your name. In the night I search for you; in the morning I earnestly seek you. For only when you come to judge the earth
will people learn what is right.  Isaiah 26:8-9.

He restores my soul! He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Psalm 23:3.
