October 26, 2017 – Colossians 1:14
Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace. Colossians 1:14.
Rules in a sixth grade classroom is the last thing sixth graders want. When asked to write on what freedom is – it soon became clear. No more lining up to go to lunch, longer recesses, better menus for lunch, and not so many rules. Doing what they wanted to do — would have brought chaos. Adults are no different.
Sin is addictive, but through Jesus Christ, we have forgiveness and a clean heart. His love enters our hearts – and we are changed. True love for Jesus, whom we haven’t seen, and how life changes. Our hearts change to loving others and forgiving them because of Jesus.
You love him even though you have never seen him. Though you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy. The reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls. I Peter 1:8-9.
Life or death? We choose by what we believe and how we live! Each person makes a choice! What will you do with Jesus? This decision comes each moment of our lives. “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” John 14:27.
But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. Colossians 1:22-23.
