September 11, 2017 – Psalm 23:2-3

Psalm 23:2-3 – He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name.

God refreshes us in our spirits, with moments and times of trusting, loving, and forgiving.  He has created places where peace reigns: Green meadows, peaceful streams, and righteous paths to walk. Why does God give such riches to us?  To bring honor and glory to His Name.  Someone once said, God cannot NOT love us!  It is contrary to His Spirit…

He loves us, not because of our goodness, our outward beauty, or our abilities and achievements.  Our God is a giving God and all we can do is praise Him, trust Him, and walk in His paths.

Through sickness or health, God is a constant.  God’s love and His Presence is always with us.  No matter the time or the extent of our suffering — God is with us.  When we call out to Him, He hears our cries.  We cannot praise our Lord God enough,  but with every breath He, and He alone gives us.

Psalm52:9 – I will praise you forever, O God, for what you have done.  I will trust in your good name  in the presence of your faithful people.

God writes our story as we walk through the darkest times, He reassures us. He gives us hope and comfort.  In 1979, I contemplated the words someone dear said to me.  As I drove to be with my Dad after his latest heart attack, my friend said,  “He will be OK, either way!” These six words reminded me of God’s mighty power and presence in life and in death for all of us who follow after Him!  The words remain true each day.

Psalm 23:4 – Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.
