August 28, 2017 – Psalm 84:3

Even the sparrow has found a home, And the swallow a nest for herself, Where she may lay her young— Even Your altars, O Lord of hosts, My King and my God. Psalm 84:3.

There are many names and synonyms for the word – home.  What does home mean to you?  What is the essence of the word home?

I think of a place where I belong, a place where I am loved and enjoy peace.  Anything or anyone who threatens my home is not welcome.  There is one home where we find peace, love and joy.  And that is the House not made with hands.   God’s House.  For God is Love.  The fruit of his Spirit includes peace and joy.

God cannot live in a house filled with contention, quarreling, and discontent.  Using the ‘broom’ of thankfulness, forgiveness, and rejoicing, we can sweep the ugliness from our hearts and lives.

This is a journey of God-filled living each day.  ‘Each day is a journey, and the journey itself  is home.’ Matsuo Basho.  What is home to you?  This tells your story.

A single day in Your courts is better than a thousand anywhere else! I would rather be a gatekeeper in the house of my God than live the good life in the homes of the wicked. Psalm 84:10.

What home do you desire?  There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?  John 14:2.  This is Jesus’s invitation to share Heaven with Him!

Blessed are those who dwell in Your house; They will still be praising You. Psalm 84:4.
