June 29, 2017 – Titus 3:4-5

But—When God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit. Titus 3:4-5

When did God our Savior show us His kindness and love, and save us?  History is divided by BC, meaning Before Christ when sins were rolled back, and not forgiven with sacrifices of lambs.  Jesus Christ, our Savior was born and time began counting forward. BC counted down to the Birth of Christ.  Jesus’s death and resurrection was our sacrifice for our sins and the clock begins again with Year 1 AD (Year of our Lord).  This is love.  That Jesus would die or us!

Because of His Gift of Grace, He made us right in His sight.  It isn’t the good we do, how hard we try, but simply loving Jesus our Savior and following Him.  This is how we can be sure we will inherit eternal life.  Eternal life and love, is never having to say goodbye to living in God’s kindness and love.

The assurance of our inheritance of eternal life is through our hope and faith in Jesus Christ.   In this day of expiration dates , a year of guaranteed insurance or even a lifetime guarantee is not enough.  Only in Jesus Christ do we have a forever guarantee of life after death as our inheritance.

Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life. Psalm 139:23-24.

Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.  Psalm 23:6.
