June 26, 2017 – John 8:12, 56
Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” John 8:12
The first thing we desire when we wake up in the dark – is light. Light protects us from the dangers hidden in the dark. The Psalm 18:28 and 112:4 proclaims: You, Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light…Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for those who are gracious and compassionate and righteous.
Jesus brings a light to the world that cannot be extinguished. Men have tried to do away with the message of God’s Son. His Son Jesus was sent into the world to proclaim the message of love and light.
Abraham’s faith was built on seeing the coming of Jesus and he was glad. We desire power on earth – to run man made devices and give us light. Yet in Heaven our power will emanate from God the Father. There is no darkness in Heaven. The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. Revelation 21:23-24.
Dear Father in Heaven, guide me, lead me on earth to follow and live in your Light. I pray for faith that is strengthened by the gift of your Grace. May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. (Psalm 19:14) In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Your father Abraham rejoiced as he looked forward to my coming. He saw it and was glad. John 8:56
