June 7, 2017 – Psalm 118:18-19

They attacked me at a moment when I was in distress, but the Lord supported me. He led me to a place of safety; he rescued me because he delights in me. Psalm 118:18-19.

The voices sang in a chorus, You unravel me with a melody, You surround me with a song Of Deliverance from my enemies, ‘Til all my fears are gone – I’m no longer a slave to fear, I am a child of God.

All our lives we are told to grow up! Stand on your own two feet!  Yet, Jesus teaches us the innocence and humility of a child is paramount. Walk with Him, talk with Him, be open to His leading – these are things we never outgrow.  Our Lord delights in us, on a bad hair day, when we fail, when we despair, and when we grieve.  Even then our Lord delights in us when we follow Him.  So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven. Matthew 18:4.

The Lord our God lights our way when we follow the ways He has given us.  He lights up our darkest days when we struggle in life when dark alleys and dark exits beckon us. Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” John 8:12.

With all my heart I will praise you, O Lord my God.  I will give glory to your name forever... Psalm 86:12

For I have kept the ways of the Lord; I have not turned from my God to follow evil. You rescue the humble, but you humiliate the proud. You light a lamp for me. The Lord, my God, lights up my darkness. Psalm 118:21, 27-28.
