June 1, 2017 – Hebrews 12:2
We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. Hebrews 12:2
Jesus lived on the earth – without sin! He had a mission on earth. He had a race to run for His Father God. He kept his eyes on His Father, praying for strength to complete his work on earth. Being created by our Lord God, we, too have a race to run.
When we begin this run, we put God first. We keep our eyes on Jesus Who makes our faith in God perfect. Jesus finished in victory, and took his place of honor beside His Father God.
When we finish a race on earth, we receive a trophy. When we keep our eyes on Jesus and glorify Him and run the race, we will receive resurrection from death, even as Jesus.
If we stumble, or lose our way, we lose sight of God. Keeping our eyes on Jesus and His Will gives us strength to finish this life’s race. Seeing life through the lens of our Father God, we will be encouraged in difficult times. We know for a certainty God is disciplining us, even as our parents do. Why? Because God loves us, even more than our parents can.
Honoring and loving God in all things does not allow room for complaints or anger. but doing our best, trusting God to grow, and deepen our trust in Him.
‘Mark out a straight path for your feet‘ and ‘keep your eyes on Jesus.’ You will know the ultimate victory in Jesus!
And have you forgotten the encouraging words God spoke to you as his children? He said, “My child, don’t make light of the Lord’s discipline, and don’t give up when he corrects you. For the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes each one he accepts as his child.” Hebrews 12:5-6
