April 28, 2017 – James 1:5-6

If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind.    James 1:5-6

Have you ever watched the way winds blow the waves of the sea?  You will see that the wind changes the direction of the waves.   We are like the waves of the sea when we choose to follow one god and then another.  Only One God is the Keeper of Wisdom.  Only the One God can bestow wisdom on His children, those that follow Him.  Only One God sent Jesus to save us from a misdirected life. God is faithful to us, and asks us to be faithful to Him.

This walk through a short time in the world is a divided walk. In Isaiah 45:18 is written, For the Lord is God, and he created the heavens and earth and put everything in place. He made the world to be lived in, not to be a place of empty chaos. “I am the Lord,” he says, “and there is no other.”

When we ask for wisdom, our heart must be at peace with love for our Lord. If our loyalty is divided between God and the world, we are unstable in everything we do.  He cannot hear our plea for anything until we repent and turn to Him with all our hearts.

Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.  James 1:7-8
