April 26, 2017 – Psalm 40:4

Oh, the joys of those who trust the Lord, who have no confidence in the proud or in those who worship idols. Psalm 40:4

What is this trusting the Psalmist declares is a joy? How would you know you trust God? When we are faced with a problem that we can not solve, we turn to God. But this is the ‘after the fact’ trusting.

One morning, I saw a picture of trust when a little girl ran to her 6’4″ Grandfather  and place her small hand in his, ready to follow him anywhere.  Her face was radiant with joy. I knew this kind of relationship is what our Heavenly Father desires with us.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. I Corinthians 13:6-7.

Trust is many-faceted rare jewel composed of love, goodness, truth, hope, perseverance, peace, protection, and rejoicing.  It is when we trust God with our very lives, placing our hand in His hand,  we experience the spiritual exhilaration of true trusting joy.

There is no end to the wonders of God’s love and provision for us.  Listen to Jeremiah’s words…For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11.   Sing this song in your hearts and trust Him!  Lord, there is no one like you!  For you are great, and your name is full of power. Jeremiah 10:6

O Lord my God, you have performed many wonders for us. Your plans for us are too numerous to list. You have no equal. If I tried to recite all your wonderful deeds, I would never come to the end of them.  Psalm 40:5
