April 11, 2017 – Romans 12:17-18
Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone. Romans 12:17-18
Is everything right or wrong? How can you tell? Doing wrong feels as if you are going to be found in a game as a child. You continue hiding in the dark. When the dark is your friend, it might be wise to check some of your activities and see if you are living with honor.
In the early 1930’s, a little girl wandered over to the neighbor’s porch and found a rubber band. She had never seen one before. She began to play with it and brought it home. Her Mother lived by the ‘right rule’ and made the little girl return the rubber band and apologize. That was the girl’s first lesson in living with honor.
Often when someone hurts our feelings, or takes a possession of ours, or tells a lie about us, we want to get even. God knows all and sees all. He will take revenge, and pay them back. We may not see or know when it happens, but the most important One know – God!
What does it take to live at peace with everyone? Trusting God and loving Him more than we love ourselves. Be faithful to God and His teachings to love one another.
Yes indeed, it is good when you obey the royal law as found in the Scriptures: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” James 2:8.
Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,” says the Lord. Romans 12:19
