“…because of the tender mercy of our God, whereby the sunrise shall visit us from on high to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.” Luke 1:78-79The essence of these words stir my heart. Tender mercy of God gives us a sunrise visit as we sit in the darkness, even as death is all around us. This light guides our feet into the way of peace. When the mercy of God is upon us, we know how to walk in his way. It can be midnight, in the darkest part of the night, yet there is peace in our hearts. For his light guides us in his way of peace. There is no peace so serene as the peace that we have from God. In the most fierce battle of our lives, we can rest, secure in the knowledge that the Mercy and Love of God is tangible. When Dad lay dying in the hospital, Mom left to go to sleep at home. I asked her how she could do this. Her reply? In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. Psalm 4:8.Our sorrow becomes joy! A beautiful promise. The Spirit of Truth comes and guides us into all truth. It takes humility to live truthfully for we are not perfect. We try to hide our innermost thoughts and live in a secret world. There is no such secret world with God. He is Who He IS. Steadfast and Faithful. Merciful and Loving. Loyal and Glorified. Almighty and Praiseworthy. How then can I not give Him my heart, my life, my will, for in Him I am made Whole. I love you, Jesus….When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you…. Truly, truly, I say to you, you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn into you. John 16:13-14, 20.
